Interview 3

December 2007
Sherri Baldy

Sherri Baldy (with Beautiful Blonde Hair) and artist Jessica Galbreth

with the Fairy Society products.

 Fairy Society

1.)Sherri please tell us a little about your childhood to present with your family now. Well, I come from a long line of interesting people. My Grandfather was in TIME Magazine for being the grocery store entrepreneur of his day. He went on to own a Hotel after he retired, he never stopped working and loved it. My Grandmother was a Martha Stewart of her day, she was a wonderful artist of many mediums. I learned a lot about art and creativity at her feet watching her work. My Grandfather marketed his companies. They never stopped and never gave up on there dreams. That had a lot to do with my way of thinking. My father was an entrepreneur himself.
My passion for the whimsical fantasy realm lead me to create worlds of enchantment with embellishment. I believe that you must live a positive inspirational life everyday to achieve our dreams and goals. These whimsical worlds that inspire me come from my life long love of fantasy. As a little girl I danced and played with imaginary fairies and swam with invisible mermaids in my dreams. My passions were pushed by my beloved frogs and toads in my baby buggy and collected snails from under the garden leaves, I knew there were secret magical worlds hidden deep within the garden.

2.) Sherri can you tell me how you became the owner of The Fairy Society and where the inspiration came from? Also please tell us the steps you took to get things started.
The Fairy Society comes from 'necessity being the mother of all invention'. It seemed to me that there was a great need to help artists and companies alike to meet one another and work together.

3.) Sherri can you tell us what it takes to come up with designs in your head for making all the products that you make. Please give us the steps your mind goes through to the actual finished product.
It's really like a dream, my designs just come to me. When I stop and listen to what I think the need is in the market place, it is like the movie 'Hook', when Tink says that she is right between the light of day and the dark of night; that is when my designs come to me the most, I keep a pad by my bed to write them down as I am in that sleep state and will not remember them when I am awake. It's been like that for years for me and I have talked to many artists that have the same experience.

4.) Can you tell us who is the coolest person that you have met in your career? Can you tell us who you admire and hope to work with in the future.
I have been very fortunate to have met a lot of our artists and others such as Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth, Nene Thomas just to name a very few. I wrote a piece about what inspires me, that might answer the first question the best.
Who and what Inspires me ! My Inspirations for my Healing words & Fantasy art comes from one of the first book of poems I read "The Prophet" I fell in love. Then my first encounter meeting Doreen Virtue was in Laguna Beach years ago at a beautiful little fairy shop & then we met again at trade shows. I have read her books & Fairy / Angel cards for years now. Her mixture of Fantasy Fairy Art with inspirational words is beautiful and inspiring to us all. When we met again I told her of my reoccurring sightings of the numbers 444, everywhere, 'What does that mean,' I ask and she said the angels are telling you something. Mystery solved. I have something to say and give to the world. She told me what to try and paint and see what comes from the path she suggested.
Another person that has inspired me greatly for many years is Wayne Dyer, I was touched by watching his 'Would You Like to be Right or Be Kind' program. And what can I say about Louise L. Hay from Hay House Books; her inspirational words and art combination, are Beautiful! You don't put her books down without having a feeling of happiness. The mother of all inspirational words and art Mary Engelbreit; 'ME' for short.
There are a number of wonderful Fantasy Fairy artists out there that have touched me in one way or another, there are so many: Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth, Caron Vinson, Selina Fenech, Sue Miller, Molly Harrison JUST to name a very few...
I have been told that my art is feel good art, I hope that you come away with the same good feelings and are inspired to "Live a Positive Life everyday ! " Who would I like to meet without a doubt it is Oprah. I think that she is a seer of the path for us to fine in this life. She holds one of the lamps for us to see our way better down that path. One other person I want to meet is Caron Vinson & I will for sure one day.

5.) Sherri can you tell us what it is that drives you through working with all the people you do when things get rough.
Every road traveled has it's rough spots. Coming through the fire only purifies you so you are all the better, so I view the rough times as this is what I am supposed to learn at this moment, even if it is a hard lesson. When it is over we are all the better for it.

6.) As we all know in business things do not always go as planned. Can you give us a strategy to further ourselves in business that when plans change how to handle them smoothly without upsetting the balance of our companies.
This is a delicate balance that is hard to achieve. When anything in life goes out of balance you have to try and stay calm and to get it back on track. When I have these things occur, and they do in all business, I think what can I do so I can make things function better and more smoothly form now on out. It does not always work the first time either. But the key is to NEVER give up if you want to keep doing what you started out doing. I have found sometimes in business, you start something and it is not really what you were meant to do, but rather a stepping stone for what will come next.

7.) Can you give us 5 things we should know in business to make a successful Internet based business that you feel everyone must have to make the best business possible in this world of multiple products.
It's all about hard work, having a dream, and keeping at it .

8.) Can you tell us what your goals are with The Fairy Society and Your Art & Design that you would like to see completed so you know that in your heart that you have created the best company out there?
To keep us moving forward to huge success for us all.

9.) Sherri please tell us how the life with your family fits into your business and how you think they feel about the ups and the downs they see you go through.
My family is such a huge support to me and our compan. They believe in me and this has become their dream too . My husband is so wonderful and my kids have come to work with us at The Fairy Society.

10.) Sherri now can you take some time and tell us you favorite achievement, your favorite product and your favorite piece of art that you have done to this moment.
One of my favorite things I have done is design a doll for Oprah Winfrey. The author of Chicken Soup for the Soul had been looking for my dolls, they said it was for a gift for Oprah for Christmas a few years ago. I love all the products that we are doing today with The Fairy Society, I feel that they are fun and exciting and that is our goal to bring others JOY.

11.) Last Sherri can you tell the people who are thinking of having a career in Art, and Design and/or making a business out of it your best advise to help them further their careers before they even start.
Stay with your dream and never give up!
